Summertime Prayers, Part III
Well it’s August in Minnesota. You know what that means, heat and corn dogs. I remember my dog, Daisy, looked a bit wilted this time last year. Heat lightening, northern lights and lighting bugs are our free entertainment provided by the hand of God.
This month’s prayer theme, our last one, is Look out. The weather in our state is often the ice breaker we use to talk to our neighbors or those on the bus. Families are getting ready for school; moms are bumping into each other at Target or the pool. How can your conversation get past the weather to be able to invite them to church? Remember our BLESS card – Begin with prayer; Listen to their stories; Eat together; Serve them; Story. When the time is right share your story of how Jesus changed your life.
August’s Prayer Theme
Look out – we are not a selfish people, like Judas clinging to coins. We are serving people with open hearts to God and open arms to our neighbors inviting others to Woodbury Lutheran. We move together in grateful prayer for the work God has called us to do.
Include these Beatitudes in your prayer this month Matthew 5: 9-10
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
