Master Plan includes future church plant (Master Plan timeline had it happening in 2005)
2003
Elders discussed church plant and potential locations. (Plan was not moved on at the time)
Fall 2005
Church Plant discussed with Expanded Ministries
(Determined it should be a separate plan from Expanded Ministries)
February 2006
Council initiates a team to look at Mission Planting Feasibility
(Team included Tom Burger, Bruce Nixon, Lori Nixon, Scott Stevens, Dan Stoddard, Vicar Matthew Blackford and Pastor Ben Griffin)
May 2006
The Church Plant Feasibility Team’s report is endorsed by the Council
The report recommendation: “After a rigorous process of research, study, discussions, and prayer, the Mission Plant Feasibility Team unanimously recommends that Woodbury Lutheran Church plant a daughter congregation in a neighboring community.” The report also included financial projections, demographic studies, and recommended implementation strategies including a projected fall of 2007 launch. Summer 2006
The Church Plant Feasibility Report is endorsed by the Elders
October 1, 2006
Being a church planting church is included as one of 5 major initiatives voted in for the future planning of WLC
(This included the concept of planting a church in the next 2 years and future plants after the development of the 2nd site)
October 29, 2006
A plan for planting an initial church plant is presented to the church during worship services.
(This plan will be voted on at the Jan 07 voters meeting)
January 2007
Congregational Voter’s meeting that will include the church planting plan and financial impact.
