The Plan
What
WLC will plant a new and independent church.
Why
Planting new churches is proven to be the best way to reach those who don’t know Jesus with the Gospel.
This is part of our larger outreach plan to reach the lost in surrounding communities.
When
A launch team and plan will be developed over the next year with the goal of launching the new church in the fall of 2007. This and more specifics will be included in the January 07 voter’s meeting.
There is a two year window in which to plant a new church before we begin development of our 2nd site.
Who
A launch team of mission minded people from WLC will go to start the new church. Pastor Ben Griffin and Brian Smith will be leading the effort.
Opportunity to be a part of the new church will be given to the congregation. This will help us get an idea of how many people will be a part of the new church launch and what the impact will be on WLC.
We are asking that you prayerfully consider if God is leading you to be a part of the new church.
Where
The plan is to plant the new church in Cottage Grove, MN.
Cottage Grove is a growing community that is over 50% unchurched. Connecting with local agencies has confirmed that there is great need both physically and spiritually. We will also be able to extend arms into both Newport and St. Paul Park. Cottage Grove is close enough that a new church can work together with WLC on a common mission, but far enough away to be an autonomous church.
The new church will be intentionally focused on
reaching those who do not know Jesus.
