Woodbury Lutheran St. Croix Campus

In 2005 the people of WLC purchased 44 acres of land on the Woodbury/Afton border. At this time there are no definitive plans for the land's use other than it must in some way connect and serve the local community.

During this time of seeking God's direction as to how to best use the property, from time to time we hold special events on the land that include: Summer Worship, Ultimate Frisbee, Bon Fires and other events.

St. Croix Study Team Update!

JANUARY UPDATE!

After much hard work, prayer and deliberation we finally have a site plan! (Click Here to view Phase 1 Site Plan).  The intent of this initial plan is to continue to familiarize the people of WLC with the land while at the same time providing a great outdoor option for the communities of Afton and Woodbury.  The initial phase calls for a sports field, picnic pavilion, play ground, Columbarium/Memorial Garden, fire-pit and garden area.  This initial phase leaves plenty of space for future phases as God leads.

Our next steps include continued dialogue with the city of Afton and finding a local company to begin to price out a design and build.  As always feel free to contact the team (see below).

NOVEMBER UPDATE!

The St. Croix campus planning team has met with representatives from CSG (Church Solutions Group) several times to brainstorm and identify the best path forward for Woodbury Lutheran Church.  CSG is not simply helping the team determine how to utilize the 44 acres at the Saint Croix campus, but to help develop an action plan to best expand WLC ministries in a way that meets the WLC vision.

In November, the SCC team is presenting their proposal to the Church Council.  Due to a lack of population growth in the SE portion of Woodbury, and an existing $3MM debt carried by our church, the opportunity to expand ministries by building on the Saint Croix campus does not appear to be the best option at this point in time.  Instead, the team is proposing a multi-site approach for WLC, where an EXISTING structure would be leased within a 5 mile radius of the current church.  This would be used as another worship site that would relieve spatial pressure on the 7380 Afton Road campus and allow us room to grow our congregation and ministries.  The Saint Croix campus would continue to be utilized for outdoor worship, sports ministries, and as a garden for the Christian Cupboard.  To help further these ministries, modest development would occur to include a pavilion, bathrooms, and landscaping improvements.  With the multi-site approach, the St. Croix Campus would be a likely candidate for the 3rd site for regular worship, 3-5 years in the future.

A team has been assembled to analyze potential uses of the St. Croix Campus. Thank you for your feedback and questions.  At this time we are continuing the process by studying the ministry opportunities, meeting with the cities of Woodbury and Afton and meeting with site planners.  Please continue to keep the process in your prayers and if you have any questions or thoughts please feel free to e-mail team chair Troy Wenck.

Below you will find the team charter.

WLC Garden

This year we are in the process of developing a garden that will benefit the Woodbury Christian Cupboard. The land has been tilled and is being planted now. We need individuals and families to help maintain and harvest the crops throughout the summer. If you are interested in helping out this great cause please e-mail Mark Stutelburg:
