Team 23A flew Friday, February 23 from the Twin Cities to Ocean Springs. Team members include 9 students from Concordia University and three chaperones, including their team leader, Bill Ford, a member of Woodbury Lutheran, band director and saxaphonist extraordinaire from Concordia.
Team 23B departed Saturday, February 24, from the Twin Cities. They left about 9:30 a.m. and encountered bad weather in the church parking lot and beyond! They had to make an emergency stop in El Paso, Illinois, late afternoon as the highway patrol was beginning to shut down the freeway due to accidents and jackknifed semis. We were grateful to get the last seven beds for them in a Days Inn!
We pray for safe travel Sunday as they continue on to Ocean Springs, for improving health for team leader Tom Zarnke, who came down with a cold before the team left, and for a great week serving the people in Ocean Springs for Tom, Peggy Brown, Peter Freier, Chuck Jones, Shelia Kainnenian, Mary Zarnke, Matt Zarnke, Bill Ford and the students and chaperones from Concordia University.
