Photo of hands reaching togetherWe care for others in the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is head of our church. Peter said of him: "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power...He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed." (Acts 10:38)

The following are many of the ministries of care at our church:

Stephen Ministry

“Love one another just as I have loved you.” John 13:34

Hurting? Struggling? Discouraged? Stressed? Confused? Broken? Stephen Ministers are ready to care. Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation and community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Training is underway for Stephen Ministry volunteers at Woodbury Lutheran. More info here...

Social Concerns Committee

Members of this committee provide meals for times of temporary need, and also rides to church for those without transportation.

Eager Hands Quilters – a Ministry to the Homeless

Adult and children’s quilts, mittens, scarves and hats are made and donated to the area homeless through the Salvation Army. Baby quilts, hats and mittens are donated to New Life. Robin’s Nest Orphanage in Jamaca is also a recipient of the baby quilts.

We need more “eager hands” to help with this ministry which meets on Tuesday mornings, 9:00 to 12:00. Some ladies also work at home. Call either Delores or Lavonne for more information.

Wedding Coordinator Committee

Volunteer Wedding Coordinators help plan your wedding ceremony that will be long cherished. Wedding Coordinators provide consultation before the wedding and direction at the rehearsal. Training is provided for those wishing to serve.

Funeral Luncheon Committee

This group plans and serves meals for family and friends following funerals at our church.

Prayer Chain

This group is comprised of men and women of our congregation who are committed to pray for members, family, and friends of those who have specific needs. Members of the group pray in their homes.

Lighthouses of Prayer

You can be a light for the Lord in your family, neighborhood, and workplace in three ways: 1) Prayer, for peace and the knowledge of God. 2) Caring acts of kindness as the Holy Spirit leads you. 3) Sharing Jesus with others in a natural way.
