Divorce Recovery

The diDR_heart.jpgvorce recovery program at Woodbury Lutheran is offered several times throughout the year. We use a workbook entitled, A Time for Healing: Coming to Terms With Your Divorce. This group is for those who are hurting as a result of divorce.

Our groups are made up of men and women, members of our church and members of the surrounding community. We have had people attend who are just divorced, those in the midst of the process and those still healing after 10 years.

These groups are not therapy groups, but are Christ-centered sharing groups - safe places - that help people deal with the issues and struggles they encounter in the divorce process.

The next group will begin in November.   Contact Mary Lehman 739-5144 x201 for more information.  Registration is required.

Healing From Divorce Is a Process

One can go through the stages of grief: denial; anger; bargaining; depression; and acceptance; however, unless he or she makes the decision to heal, the person will not heal. This study is designed to help divorced people make and maintain the healthy decisions that lead to recovery.

A Time for Healing: Coming to Terms With Your Divorce offers hope and healing as it examines:

  • The realities and stages of divorce
  • Fears, doubts, and anxieties
  • Daily survival and coping skills
  • Forgiveness and reconciliation of relationships
  • Managing loneliness
  • How to deal with children
  • How to deal with holidays
  • How to seek God's wisdom for the future
  • Each group meets ten consecutive weeks, one evening a week.

The groups are kept to 12 participants or fewer.

Registration is a must. To register, for more information or to be put on a contact list, call Mary Lehman at 739-5144 x201.
