Policies
Meeting Dates and Times
Each MOPS group will meet at WLC on Mondays during the school year from 9:15 am until 11:00 am.
A typical MOPS meeting will include:
- Refreshments
- Social time
- Door prize
- Small group discussion
- Speaker and/or craft
Registration and Fees
- Registration for any new MOPS year will be open to every mother of preschoolers.
- Registration fees will include the required amount for MOPS*TO*MOMS CONNECTION and any additional fees agreed upon by the steering team to cover costs associated with providing MOPS at WLC. No refunds will be made without approval by the steering team.
- All MOPS registrations are required to include the applicable forms and fees to be considered “complete”.
- Completed registrations will be accepted on a first come / first served basis (with emphasis on outreach) until childcare is full.
- Accepted registrations will be confirmed by e-mail or U.S. mail or phone where no e-mail address is provided.
- Completed registrations received after childcare is full will be placed on a wait list in the order received and any fees paid will be returned.
- If a childcare space opens, we will contact the women on the wait list in order with considerations to children’s ages and available MOPPETS classroom space. (for example, if a space opens in the infant room, we may go down the wait list to the next mom with an infant unless the MOPPET coordinator can accommodate otherwise.)
- Any mom who chooses to secure her own childcare can attend MOPS regardless of MOPPET space. Registration forms/fees remain the same.
- Accepted wait list registrations would then be required to pay the full fee unless the semester has already begun. In which case a space will be offered at a pro-rated fee.
- If there is a wait list, MOPS will reserve the right to drop a registered person with no refund after missing 3 consecutive meetings. MOPS leaders will make every effort to contact women before dropping them from the group and will make exceptions for women who wish to stay registered and have experienced unusual circumstances that have prevented them from attending.
- Priority registration will be given to first semester registered women for the second semester of any given MOPS year. Advance notice of a deadline date for submitting any updated forms and required fees for the second semester will be provided. If the required forms and fees are not received by the stated deadline, registration for the second semester will be made available to women on the wait list and then to the general public.
- MOPS does not desire registration fees to exclude women in financial need. MOPS at WLC will reserve at least three spots for women who request scholarships.
- MOPS will allow 2 pre-arranged visits depending on childcare space. After that, registration and fees are applicable where space is available.
- MOPS will not accept registrations for daycare providers who would bring children other than their own. Exceptions can be made for certain one-time occurrences if space in MOPPETS is available.
Weather and School Closings
Whenever South Washington County School District 833 is closed or on a delayed schedule on a MOPS meeting day, MOPS will be cancelled for that day. If you live in a different school district or you older child’s school is closed or on delay while district 833 remains open (reasons such as a water main breaks, broken heating system, etc.) please remember that MOPS at WLC does not have childcare available for any un-registered children. For this reason, you must secure other childcare for those affected school children in order to attend MOPS that day.
Confidentiality and Courtesy
- All personal information provided to MOPS at WLC is for MOPS at WLC use only and will not be given or sold to any outside groups.
- All registered moms will be enrolled with the MOPS*to*MOMS Connection program offered through MOPS International in order to receive MOPS International resource and benefits. Enrollment in the program is for a full year regardless if a mom leaves the MOPS group for any reason. It is the responsibility of each mom to inform MOPS International of any change of address in order to continue receiving benefits at her new address throughout the current MOPS*to*MOMS Connection year. Please go to www.mops.org for more information regarding the MOPS*to*MOMS Connection and MOPS International’s privacy policy.
- MOPS at WLC will not schedule any speaker or craft demonstrator whose primary intention is to sell any product or service. Nor will we provide any personal information about any MOPS mom to any speaker.
- Women in MOPS who own/operate any business should refrain from conducting business during MOPS meetings. If you are a business owner, please be courteous with any information you obtain through MOPS about its participants. A MOPS mom may be hoping that your call is for a play date and may not be prepared to hear about a great business opportunity.
MOPPETS
Please refer to your MOPPETS policy page for additional moppet information.
- Only registered MOPPET children may be brought to MOPPET classrooms unless prior arrangements have been made with the MOPPET coordinator.
- All MOPPETS must remain in their assigned classroom and not in the MOPS meeting space with the exception of infants up to five months old. Please refer to your MOPPET policies about how to best handle any separation issues)
- Registered women must attend MOPS meetings while their children are in MOPPETS. Children may not be dropped off by grandparents, nannies, or anyone other than the mother registered for MOPS.
- All MOPS moms may be asked to serve one meeting per semester in MOPPETS. This provides opportunity for moms to serve one another and observe the MOPPET program. This is an important responsibility and your fellow MOPS and their children are depending on you.
