Board of World Missions
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
Our mission is to share the love and good news of Jesus Christ in our homes, church, community and world.
We are a sending church, committed to spreading the gospel message and displaying Christ’s love for people through hearts of serving.
Our youth and adults participate in local evangelism, service projects and short-term mission trips. Annually, approximately 125 people from our congregation step out in faith to participate in short-term mission service and several have made long-term commitments in the mission field.
Local Outreach
We are a community gathering place, opening our church to many organizations and reaching out to the community through our Neighbor-To-Neighbor program, where youth and adult volunteers cover local neighborhoods, handing out flyers and an invitation to visit our services.
Outreach also includes service in our community. Our members are encouraged to participate in local service projects such as Habitat, Brush With Kindness, Operation Christmas Child and St. Martin’s Table. The WLC Ding-A-Lings are an army within an army, regularly collecting money for the Salvation Army’s red kettle program during the holidays.
We also commit church financial resources to local missions, including:
- Partners in Mission – Minneapolis Phillips Neighborhood
- Iglesia Hispana Betel – migrant workers
- Young Life of Woodbury – fellowship for local youth
- Campus Missions International – international students at the U of M
The Mission Field
Short-term mission opportunities abound for youth and adults. Recently, members served a church plant in Arizona, worked in orphanages in Jamaica, Romania and Belarus, did bicycle music ministry in Maryland and Michigan, painted and repaired homes in the Midwest through youth work camps, and served on mission teams in Ecuador, the Ukraine and Venezuela.
Long-term missions are vital to our commitment to reach the world for Jesus Christ. We provide Christian leadership training for missionary youth workers in Ecuador, are involved in establishing a church in Venezuela, a school construction project in Paraguay, and an orphanage in Jamaica.
