Phil and Ben Brandt

As most of you know, Phil had a bone marrow transplant and is now recovering from it at home. He is suffering the ill effects of long term Prednisone (a steroid) that has been part of his treatment. His doctors are slowly tapering him off of this powerful drug. He deals daily with muscle weakness, lack of energy and edema (swelling). His doctors have strongly recommended physiotherapy. Pray for the disappearance of Phil's symptoms.

On May 4th (Sat) from 7: 30 AM-1 PM, the American Heart Association "Twin Cities Heart Walk" will take place at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. Phil and Rollie's son, Ben's, life was saved 3 years ago with open heart surgery. Ben will be walking to raise money for the Amer. Heart Assoc. toward research and treatment for heart disease. Pray that many people will support Ben, participate in the Heart Walk, and donate funds badly needed for this good cause.

Si* Pray for the widow \

Simcha and Bella have been praying for their home, Asdod, Israel. They are Messianic Jews [Jews who believe in the Lord Jesus] and have made many friends in their city. Of late they have been visiting store owners in the big shopping center to see how they are doing and to share the Gospel message of peace and salvation. They write: * Pray for the widow "M" that she will be able to call on God in her need and for the "follow-up" when we stop there again.

  • Lift up "R" to the Lord for salvation. He is a local physician we have friendship with and we've shared about Yeshua.

  • "B" is a religious man from Jerusalem who came to the beach where he met Simcha and heard about Yeshua.

  • "Ma", the shoe repairman who was witnessed to by Simcha while picking up some shoes last week. Simcha was happy to find out how open he was to hear about the Messiah Yeshua. Please pray for continued witnessing and his salvation.

  • For "Mi" who has been to our meetings many times and claims to believe in Yeshua but has not accepted Him yet as his Lord and Savior. Simcha is meeting with him now weekly, one-on-one for discipling and teaching. Please pray for him for understanding and salvation.

  • Please pray with us for more boldness and continued leading of the Holy Spirit as we go out sharing with our people.

Again, thank you, we love you. We would love to hear from you; any comments, questions and/or prayer requests. So feel free to write and mail any prayer request you might have, we will pray for you too from Zion. Let's be in touch and keep being connected.

Steve Cohen

On 4-18-13, Steve and 4 volunteer seminarians from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, went out to the public sidewalk that surrounds the Peabody Opera House to pass out literature to people coming in to the builiding to attend an evening with comedian, Jason Alexander. Steve is the president and founder of Apple of His Eye Mission Society, an organization which reaches out to traditionally Jewish people and others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The general manager of the Peabody Opera House, Ken Gilbert interferred and told them he would call the police if they didn't leave. Steve told them the sidewalk is public property and they had First Ammendment rights to be there. Steve and the others went to the corners and passed out literature. Ken then called the police, who arrived with 6 units threatening to arrest the AOHE volunteers and Steve. Then Steve took a video of Ken and others at the Opera House collecting the literature from those who had it and claiming to throw it out for them. Steve has contacted his lawyer about this, and prayer is needed that his matter will be settled in favor of Steve and the seminarians.

Marcus Rosenau

Simon Rosenau (9) has been in and out of the U. of MN Hospital with his father, Marcus, living at Ronald McDonald House near by for well over 122 days. Simon had two bone marrow transplants to treaat Adrenoleukodystrophy, a nasty cancer which robs its victims of many body functions if left untreated. Simon developed PTLD [post transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder] which allowed the Mono virus to get into his system. He is receiving 4 treatments, one per week for a month. Last Friday, a CT-scan showed improvements. Marcus is hoping after the next two of these treatments and antibody shots [IVIG Intravenous Immunoglobulin] will do the trick and enable Marcus and Simon to return to their home in Somerville, NJ. Prayer is needed for this outcome.

Faith Engel

This note came from dear friends who are getting ready to leave on May 3rd for a short term mission in Tajikistan [NE of Afghanistan].

Dear Prayer Partners,

Thanks for praying for Yana, the 2 year old daughter of a dear friend, the surgery went well and Yana is back being Yana.

Thanks for praying for the mission’s conference back in March. Two people from our church are leaving May 3rd for a short term trip to Tajikistan.

Please pray for the following items:

Our pastor, Sasha has pneumonia which prevented him from a mission’s trip to Ghana. Wednesday, we had our last small group for families before returning to Michigan.
Thursday, Kim had her last small group for women. Friday, we had an Open House for Ashley to allow her to say goodbye to Ukrainian friends.

Pray for Herb and Kim as we need to re-register our temporary residence permit before returning to the States. Pray for Ashley as she needs to be un-registered before she can leave Ukraine.

May 8th we arrive in Michigan. May 12th Kim will be able to celebrate Mother’s day with all our kids. It has been over 4 years since the last time. May 18th Josh will graduate from Taylor University.

Praise God that dear friends are loaning us a vehicle for the summer and we have housing in the St. Johns area.

Thank you for your continued prayers.

In Christ, Herb and Kim

Patrick Brewer

I want the 15 year old girl who posted earlier to know that I am praying for her, and am definitely available if she needs someone to talk to. Hopefully she'll see this and know that she is valuable and loved! No matter what she's struggling with God is bigger than it, and is walking through it with her. (John 16:33, Hebrews 4:15) I pray that she is able to lean on him and find comfort and strength in her struggle, (2 Cor 1:3-4) and that she knows that she is surrounded by many people who would love to listen to her and support her in her struggle if she'd make the bold first step and say "can we talk?"

Faith Engel

I want to relay the following request from Way of the Cross Ministries in Harlingen, TX:

Greetings in the name of the Lord!

We want to share an urgent need with you. We’ve been planning a Celebrate Jesus Festival for Matamoros, Mexico for several months and the June 1st event is coming up on us very quickly. We believe that there will be more than 20,000 people attend this event. The poverty and need for the love of Christ is very great in Mexico right now due to the fear that the drug cartels are causing. So far, we've had some difficulty getting food into our warehouse for this event. We've made a commitment to give each adult that attends the event a 20 lb. bag of groceries. We were given the opportunity to receive two truckloads of rice meals and we jumped on it! We've been unable to find anyone to haul the first load for us, so we hired a national truck line to pick up the first load. There is an expense to hauling this first load, and so we are seeking prayers that God would bless the covering of this expense. Please keep in mind that the food has been given to us freely, the expense is only for the freight. These two loads combined will provide close to 500,000 meals as well as a great opportunity to show the love of Christ.

God bless,

Brother Ben

I saw my doctor for my 30 day check up, and he was pleased with the fact that I have my diabetes count down to 130-135! I praise the Lord for this, because I know that many prayers have been said for that for me. The last couple of days, it has been in the 120's!! That is also a blessing!! I think the little bit more of exercise I've been getting now that the weather is a bit better has helped, too. Please pray that I can continue with the exercise, and that my BS keeps going down.
