About WL Preschool

Our Mission & Philosophy

Our mission is to share the love and Good News of Jesus Christ, while providing children and families with excellence in early education.

We believe young children learn best by doing.  They are active learners who touch, feel, experiment, and create.  Our classroom environments are intentionally planned with active learners in mind and to encourage their involvement.  Here they can experiment to find out how things work, try out many ideas, rearrange happenings to fit their level of understanding and learn firsthand about God's wonderful world around them.  Play provides the foundation for academic learning.  It is the preparation children need in order to attain academic success.  It is in this kind of environment that young children build their self confidence and begin to believe they are capable learners.  Play nurtures children's development in all areas and allows us to achieve the goals of our early education curriculum.  Play is the work of young children.

Goals for Learning

One of the most important curriculum goals is to help children become enthusiastic learners. We strive to provide a balance of child-directed play/exploration with appropriate teacher-directed activities to provide a well-rounded experience. We focus on goals in all areas of development:

Purpose

WLP exists to partner with parents in each child's early education, while instilling faith and Christian values, nurturing self-confidence, encouraging all areas of development and providing the readiness skills needed for future learning success.  We are devoted to teaching and reaching the whole child - spirit, heart, mind, and body.

Class Sizes & Support

Class Sizes
Small class sizes are intentionally provided to ensure your child has the individual attention he/she needs and deserves on a daily basis.

Support
We receive special needs support when indicated from School District 833, provide education and support services references for parents when requested, and are committed to open communication with parents in supporting the individual needs of children.

Licensing & Continuing Ed

Woodbury Lutheran Preschool is licensed by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services.  All teaching staff members are degreed in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and licensed and/or certified by the State of Minnesota.  Ongoing training and continuing education is provided for members of our staff.  All staff members have current training in Infant/Child First Aid and CPR.
